Getting started

Set up your first Stock Group

GuideSet up your first Stock Group

Open LinkStock from Apps in your Shopify admin. During setup, LinkStock imports your inventory without changing stock levels. A Stock Group connects Shopify Inventory Items that draw from the same physical stock. For example, three designs printed on the same blank shirt can share one available quantity at each location.

  1. Choose how new groups should start when quantities differ: Let me decide, Use lowest stock, or Use highest stock.
  2. Select the Shopify locations that should participate. Each location keeps its own stock.
  3. Wait for the inventory import to finish and complete setup.
  4. Open Stock Groups and create a group. Search by product, variant, SKU, or barcode and select at least two related Inventory Items.
  5. Review the group’s items, participating locations, and starting quantity before confirming. Check its Overview and Activity after creation.
Will setup change my Shopify stock?

No. The initial import and setup do not change stock levels. Creating and enabling Stock Groups is a separate step; review their starting quantities before confirming.

Does LinkStock add the quantities together?

A group represents one physical stock pool per location. Three linked listings with 12 available represent the same 12 units, not 36 units. Review the starting quantity rule when existing quantities differ.

Using LinkStock

Find your way around LinkStock · Understand stock at each location · Review suggested groups

GuideFind your way around LinkStock

Start in Shopify admin → Apps → LinkStock. The Help button on every page opens the assistant, which can read your plan, locations, and synchronization status but never changes anything.

  1. Overview shows store-wide inventory health and the shop-wide synchronization control.
  2. Stock Groups lists your configured groups. Open a group for its Overview, Items, Activity, and Settings tabs.
  3. Suggestions helps you review potential groups based on matching SKUs or barcodes. Suggestions do not create groups automatically.
  4. Settings contains the starting quantity rule, shop-wide location participation, and subscription controls. Use the subscription section to manage your plan.
GuideUnderstand stock at each location

LinkStock aligns available quantities within a Stock Group separately at each participating Shopify location. It does not pool or transfer stock between locations.

An item must have inventory tracking enabled and be stocked at the location in Shopify to participate there. “Not stocked” means Shopify has no inventory assignment for that item at that location. It does not mean the quantity is zero. LinkStock does not create missing assignments.

  1. Check shop-wide location participation in Settings.
  2. Open the Stock Group and review its location participation.
  3. If an item is Not stocked, manage its inventory assignment in Shopify. If it is Temporarily unverified, LinkStock needs a fresh Shopify observation before it can safely adjust that position.
GuideReview suggested groups

Suggestions are derived from matching SKUs or barcodes. A match is evidence to review, not proof that products share physical stock. Items already assigned to a non-deleted group are excluded from current suggestions. An Inventory Item can belong to only one non-deleted Stock Group.

  1. Open Suggestions after completing setup.
  2. Review every item and confirm that they draw from the same physical stock.
  3. Check overlapping suggestions and any location or starting-quantity warnings before creating the group.
  4. If a suggestion changed while you were reviewing it, reload it and review again. Dismiss suggestions you do not want; dismissed suggestions can be restored.
Do linked items need the same SKU?

No. You choose the Inventory Items in a Stock Group. SKUs and barcodes help with search and suggestions, but they are not the identity used for group membership.

Guide: Review suggested groups ›
Can an item belong to more than one group?

An Inventory Item can belong to only one non-deleted Stock Group.

Guide: Review suggested groups ›
Can I use multiple locations?

Yes. Each participating location synchronizes independently. LinkStock does not transfer or combine stock between locations.

Guide: Understand stock at each location ›
Why does an item say “Not stocked”?

Shopify has no inventory assignment for that item at that location. This is different from zero stock. Manage the assignment in Shopify; LinkStock does not create it.

Where can I pause synchronization?

Use the shop-wide synchronization control on Overview, or the synchronization control in a Stock Group for that group.

Can the AI assistant see or change my store?

The assistant inside LinkStock can read your plan, linked item usage, locations, and synchronization status to answer questions. It never changes inventory, groups, or your subscription. This public FAQ has no assistant.

Troubleshooting

Check a group that is not synchronizing

GuideCheck a group that is not synchronizing

Use the status and Activity information in LinkStock to identify what needs attention. The in-app assistant can see whether synchronization is paused and which positions need attention, but it cannot change them. Synchronization responds to verified inventory movements; an exact completion time is not guaranteed.

  1. Check Overview to see whether shop-wide synchronization is paused.
  2. Open the affected Stock Group and check its synchronization control and participating locations.
  3. Check that the relevant items still exist, have inventory tracking enabled, and are stocked at the location in Shopify.
  4. Review the group’s Activity tab for failures or recovery information. Activity History covers the last 30 days.
  5. If the issue persists, contact support with the displayed support details and a description of what you expected. Do not send passwords, access tokens, or customer data.
Where can I see what changed?

Open a Stock Group and select Activity. Its history shows meaningful movements, configuration changes, adjustments, failures, and recovery outcomes for the last 30 days.

  2. Review your current plan and linked item usage.
  3. Use the plan management action and review the terms shown by Shopify before confirming a change.
